About Our Kindness Walk

Our idea is simple with a simple goal. On March 1st 2021 (coronavirus depending) we embark on a self funded charitable walk of some 7,000km across the heart of Europe. A journey with a promise to do one act of kindness for sick, injured or abused animals, the homeless, elderly or poor every single day. What makes this a unique endeavour is our hand built mini camper we will be pulling the entire 7,000km allowing us to attract attention to engage more with people like you, and hopefully raising even more for our chosen charity Make-A-Wish Foundation.

We have a desire to make this a community led project with audience participation, allowing you as the audience to contribute with your advice and knowledge. We seek your participation to guide us along our journey, allowing us to meet the unsung hero’s within your community. We need your help raising our awareness to how we can spread kindness in the most valuable way within your area. With your help, support, encouragement and participation we can evolve into a powerful humanitarian movement bringing about more positivity and kindness to our world in a meaningful and measurable way.

The above map is a rough outline that our 7,000km walk will take, we will pass through 19 countries including, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and Germany to name just a few. As we get more and more audience participation and engagement we will become a lot more flexible, allowing us to move off route to engage in person with you and your recommendations. We will be visiting animal shelters, rescue centres, kindness projects and seeking out those unsung hero’s to promote and possibly support the kindness they do. If there is anyone or any organisation you know and would like us to feature please get in contact with us or simply leave a comment below. You, the audience, will steer our 7,000km journey of Kindness.

Andy & Marley Moo

I am Andrew Hallas, often known as Andy, and I’m 47 years old, my faithful yet sometimes mischievous companion on this walk is Marley Moo, my adopted rescue Center dog. Marley moo and myself have been travelling and exploring this beautiful world together now for a few years. In that time marley has become a true companion and is well socialised with both human and animal alike. This is not my first long distance walk or indeed endurance travel by any means and have spent years living and working around the world. I have even spent time as a fully trained Buddhist monk in northern Thailand which has proved to be an catalyst for this event and a very special part of my life indeed.

The kindness and Compassion I experience as a Buddhist monk changed my entire being catapulting me into a life where nothing else matters but compassion and kindness for our fellow human. Since leaving the safety of the monastic environment I have found kindness in everyone I’ve met and realise that now more than ever, the coronavirus has shown us we need to expel fear from our minds and replace it with kindness and compassion for each other. It is now my turn to give back in life all the kindness others have shown me and I see this project as a perfect way to spread a message kindness in a time of desperate need.

Mini camper cart/wagon

We have decided to pull a small cart or hand built mini camper along the entire 7,000km. This allows us to cook our own food making eating cheaper and we are also able wild camp, keeping the costs of this self funded charity walk down to a minimum. The cart or camper also gives valuable space for financial sponsorships and offers an unprecedented and unique opportunity to associate yourself or company with such a good cause.

Our mini camper or pull wagon we are hand building is going to resemble a small gypsy wagon of old. I will be pulling all 40kg of weight the entire 7,000km, maybe I’m mad but I’ve had almost two years of planning to decided to do it another way. I still think this is a great way to interact with the public generating more support for what we are doing.

A few trailer designs we have tested

We have tested a few ideas when it comes to pull wagons or push carts and at the moment I am using the second built pull trailer as a training wagon loading it up on long walks with heavy weight trying to build my leg muscles up before the start date. This has brought up some essential issues and a few problems that we have had to overcome for our final build, ‘Gypsy’ our kindness trailer
